There are different types of job interviews. In some cases, you’ll only need to succeed at one of these to land the role. 

 

However within the legal sector, it is more common to have a two stage or even three stage process.

Face-to-face – the traditional and most common interview, even with the introduction of remote working. Face-to-face interviews last between 45 mins and 2 hours and are usually in the form of competency or technical style questions. You will meet either the Human Resources team or a Hiring
Manager, more senior roles can include Senior Management.

Telephone/Video – This is an increasingly popular form of interview since 2020. This is usually at the first stage or a follow-up after a face-to-face interview. These usually last between 15 mins up to 1 hour.

Technical Test – This is usually added on as an additional stage in partnership with one of the above. These usually last between 15 mins and 45 mins.
